In the area of global advocacy we have chosen to partner with Lake Avenue Church
and World Relief in the Cham Province of Cambodia.
Some basic facts about Cambodia include:
- history of genocide
- lack of clean water
- highest rate in Southeast Asia of HIV/AIDS
- illiteracy
- high rates of infant mortality
- malnutrition
- economic devastation
- lack of sanitation
- corrupt social systems
- mediocre education
- weak governmental institutions
- limited access to the gospel.
Our five-year partnership seeks to assist World Relief's work
in the Cham Province in three major areas.
- Providing access to child health care and education.
- Addressing the highest HIV/AIDs infection rate in Southeast Asia by prevention
education.
- Growing economic sustainability through access to credit for small businesses
through a micro-loan program.
The first major area of involvement was to host a spiritual renewal and rest
retreat for the Cambodian World Relief staff in November 2005. We raised just
under $15,000 to cover the cost of the retreat through pledging our financial
resources, monthly offerings and fundraising events.

Did you know the World Relief Cambodia staff pray for Lake Avenue Church on a
DAILY basis? Inspired by their dedication, team members from past short-term
trips produced a 30-day prayer guide to help engage our church body in praying
for the people of Cambodia. To download a pdf copy, simply click on the link
below. Hard Copies are available through the Global Outreach Office.
